For an easier understanding of the concepts used in Valuekeep we provide a glossary with the main terms used in the solution.

A

Asset – Any element, component, device, subsystem, functional unit, equipment or system which can be considered individually.

Automatic Opening – Automatic opening of the work order. When opened, the work order immediately goes into the In Progress state (boolean field).

B

Branch – Structure branch. A section or subdivision.

C

Closing Date – Work order’s closing date.

Customer – Person who purchases or hires services from someone else.

D

Dashboard – Interface panel with several tools, options, etc.

Delay – Delay in performing a job.

Dismount Asset – When an asset is composed of several assets and we dismount one of them, for example: The asset “car” has the asset “engine” mounted, the engine breaks down, and it is necessary to dismount it.

Down State – State of an asset which is characterized by the asset being in a failure state or a potential inability to perform the required function during the preventive maintenance.

Down Time -Time interval during which an item is in a Down state.

Disposal – Removal of an asset or location that reached the end of its lifecycle.

Employee Expenses – Expense made by the employee to be paid by the company.

F

Failure – An asset failure. A problem which occurred in a machine, vehicle, device (etc.) which prevents its normal operation.

Failure Typification  – The process of assigning a standard structure (type) to a failure to classify it.

H

Hazards – Hazards associated with an asset or location.

I

Is Available? – Indicates whether the asset or the location is operational.

Issue – Maintenance operation request for an asset or location.

Item – Also named article, product or good, the item is the element that uniquely identifies the product or service involved in a transaction.

L

Labor – Employees with a set of skills and specialties adequate for performing specific maintenance work.

M

Mean Time to Repair – Average time the maintenance team takes to make the asset or location available.

Mean Wait Time – Average time an asset or location awaits for service. It allows you to know how long the maintenance team takes to start the repair.

Meter – Equipment, used manually or automatically to record the operating values of an asset.

Monitoring – Activity, performed either manually or automatically, to observe the current state of the asset.

Mount Asset – Example of asset mounting:
car – asset
engine – asset
Since the engine is part of the car, the engine will be installed in the car.

O

Operating states – Operating states include environmental conditions and physical loads as experienced by the equipment during all of its life cycle’s phases.

P

Precaution – Precaution to follow when executing a task on the asset.

Precision Digits – Number of decimal places for rounding in the recording of the meters’ values.

R

Relevance – Relative importance of an asset.

Route – A route is an itinerary involving a group of assets or locations in which an action or group of actions will be performed.

S

Scheduling – Scheduling of the dates on which the work orders take place.

Shutdown – Outage scheduled in advance for maintenance operations or other purposes.

Supplier – An entity which supplies goods or services. A supplier can be differentiated from a subcontractor since the latter is someone who generally adds value to products to be delivered.

Symptom – Evidence indicating there is a problem with an asset.

T

Total Other Cost – Total of other costs in a work order.

U

Up State – State of an asset which is characterized by the asset being able to fulfill the required function, assuming the supply of external resources, which might be necessary, is guaranteed.

Up Time – Time interval during which an item is in the Up state.

W

Work Center – Area responsible for performing the work.

Work Order – Specification of the work to be performed.
